Good pair of Worcester plates with the arms of COUNT STENBOCK of Sweden.
The family had extensive lands in Sweden, Estonia & Russia.
Count Erich Stenbock, Count of BOGESMUND, SWEDEN married Lucy Sophia Frererichs (1859)
a Manchester cotton Heiress her father was a partner in De Jersey & Co. He lived at Landsdown Place, Cheltenham, built a new house, Thirlestaine Hall, nearby. The couple lived there while the Count's Italian castle was refurbished. He died a year after his son, Count Eric Stenbock (1860-1895) was born.
He was a poet, and writer of macabre stories. He travelled with a dog, monkey and a wooden life size model, he called his son. An eccentric member of the 'Decadent Movement'.He inherited the family estates at Kolga, Estonia, living there from 1885-1887 which the family believed was haunted.
