SPECIFICATION

Material:        Brass and wood, probably Lignum Vitae.
Date:               Circa 1820.
Dimensions:   Approx 12.5 cm tall. Intaglio is 38mm by 31mm.
Condition:      Excellent condition.
                        Small filled crack to top of wooden section.

 

DESCRIPTION

A remarkable extra large brass intaglio desk seal. Initials "DS". Probably Lignum Vitae or fruitwood. Blazon: "On a ducal coronet a leopard's face, between two wings". For wax seals, embossing or printing paper. Wonderful turned hardwood handle. Circa 1790-1820. Measurements: 12.5cm tall, max. Intaglio: 38mm by 31mm. Condition:
