Material:        Soft paste Porcelain.

Date:             Circa 1825.
Dimensions:   Approx 9.5 Inches wide.
Condition:     Good display condition. Consolidated star crack to centre. Rings well.

                     Minor wear.  

 

DESCRIPTION

 

A superb Spode porcelain English armorial plate. it bears the arms of the East India Company. Even rarer, the printed mark includes "The London" which indicates it was used aboard the East Indiamen of the same name. She sailed to the East eight times between 1819 and 1832, and it is possible that this service was commissioned by her captain, John Barnet Sotherby.
