In 1599 Nicholas Mosley bacame Lord Mayor of London.
A grateful Elizabeth I knighted him in 1600 and gave him the motto:
'Mos Legem Regit'. A pun on the surname.
'Custom Rules the Law".
Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet was leader of the Brtish Fascist Party.
