It's a handmade work of art that traces its provenance to Count Pavel (Paul) Pavlovich Demidov, the 2nd Prince of San Donato who married secondly in Saint Petersburg 2 June 1871, Princess Elena (Hélène) Petrovna Trubetskaya.
The Demidoff's were industrialists, philanthropists and avid collectors, related to Napoleon. Pavel was grandfather to Prince Paul of Serbia. The celebrated Villa San Donato had a priceless art and object collection as did the Villa Demidoff with its monumental garden statue of Colossus by Giambologna, often featured by podcasters.
The plate proudly represents the Russian Federation's craftsmanship and is a celebration of Russian culture.
