A PAIR OF KPM BERLIN PLATES, CROWN PRINCE SCHWARTZBURG RUDOLSTADT

A PAIR OF KPM BERLIN PLATES, CROWN PRINCE SCHWARTZBURG RUDOLSTADT

A superb pair of royal plates. They bear the arms of the Sovereign Prince of Schwartzburg Rudolstadt.

Wonderful high relief anthemion and scrolling bands contrast beautifully with highly polished gilded borders and a rim of gilded pearls. They measure approx 9.5 Inches wide and are in perfect condition with only minute wear. Berlin KPM (Royal Porcelain Maufactory) marks. Dated 1835 to reverse.

Probably made for SOVEREIGN PRINCE FRIEDRICH GUNTHER who ruled from1814-1866.

This state ( in modern day Thuringia, Germany) was founded in 1599 and was ruled until the German Revolution of 1918-1919 when the last Prince abdicated. The Ancestral seat of the family had been Schwartzburg Castle, but the capital became the larger Rudolstadt. The principle seat was Heidecksburg Castle which was built on a hill over looking Rudolstadt.
