Wonderful English porcelain plate,

hand painted with the arms of the  DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH of Blenheim Palace.

 

The ancient treasure palace was a gift from a grateful nation and Queen Anne  to the 1st Duke of Marlborough,  JOHN CHURCHILL (1650-1722)  after the successful Battle of Blenheim in 1704.

 

The house was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh.

 

Birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, who famously gazed upon 

the painted victorious image of his predecessor and felt, he too,

was destined for greatness and a role in  making history.

 

Perfect condition, minute wear.
