Set 3 Chinese Armorial Plates 1750 BANNERMAN PRO PATRIA
A superb set of three Chinese armorial plates / charger, hand painted with the
family crest for BANNERMAN of Elsick, Scotland.
Circa 1750. The Bannerman family owned the estate since
1367 and were standard bearers for the Scottish kings. Their coat of arms
contains the Scottish saltire. The present owners are descended from Ethel Bannerman.
Beautiful raised blue enamel flowers.
Not recorded in Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain.
Motto, "Pro Patria" or "for country".
Largest measures 11 inches across
Smaller approx 9.5 Inches across.
Some tiny restored rim flakes.
Two short haircracks.
Ring well.
The suits of armour are more Chinese/Japanese in style.
