Sevres Large PRINCELY ARMORIAL Bowl

Sevres Large PRINCELY ARMORIAL Bowl

A magnificent Sevres porcelain bowl, painted with a Princely armorial. Probably for the Soveriegn Prince of Bulgaria. Measures approx 10.5 Inches wide and four inches tall. 19th Century.

Perfect condition, some minute regilding. Decorated in Paris.

Soft paste porcelain. Bleu - Celeste ground colour with tooled raised gilding.

The pattern closely resembles the great Sevres services of the 18th Century, notably the Catherine the Great Service, Comte D'Aranda Service and the Hope of Craighall Service.

The Earl of Dudley owned the Hope of Craighall service during the 19th Century and it is possible an admirer had a similar service made. The scrollwork and panels ar very similar.

The Princely arms are similar to those found on the cover of the Bulgarian Constition. Those arms appear in different forms, as they were not formally specified until many years later.
