A superb silver desk seal. It features a minutely carved intaglio, bearing a shield with hearts and a chevron.  Similar to the Douglas family of Scotland. Beautifully carved piece. Dates to the 18th century from a distinguished Scottish family. Mount probably 19th century. Intaglio measures 16mmx14mm by 85mm overall.
